Encino Garden: The Fence Build

Philosophy

I have a general philosophy which I follow pertaining to my gardening hobby. First and foremost, I strictly follow organic gardening principals. The health of the soil, including a variety of microbial and fungal life is paramount to the overall success of the garden and the maintence of it. I try to use as many native plants and South Texas adapted non-native plants as possible. By providing food, shelter and water, the garden will also become a natural habitat to area wildlife. This blog is to document my experiements, trials, successes and failures in the garden.

The Plan

I have a pretty good idea of what I want and how I want it, however my ideas do evolve as time progresses. With that said, I have a basic outline of gardening phases that I will roughly follow. The standard plan starts always with intensive planing, followed by hardscaping, conturing and irrigation. Once that is complete, the next step is foundation shrubs, trees and large focal point items. Only then, do the more interesting variety of flora get to come into play.

Phase 4. Form and install backyard pathways. **Completed**

Phase 5. Install retaining walls for backyard planting beds. **Semi-Completed**
